employee spotlight: Jaycie

 

Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Jaycie Tierney. I was raised in Farmland and Winchester, Indiana, small towns in East Central Indiana. My husband and I moved to Lafayette in 2015 to study at Purdue University; I graduated in 2018 and we are sticking around for a while!

 

What is your job at Antique Candle Co.®?

I started here in 2016 as a Candle Maker, Creative Marketing Intern, then Blogger + Keyholder, and THEN Brand Manager! My current official title is Customer Experience Director. I collaborate with our marketing team to develop fun new fragrances and products! I also work with our candle influencers on Instagram and YouTube, and am the direct contact for our wholesale partners.

What do you like to do?

When I have spare time I love to play video games. I'm a BIG Nintendo fan! I am currently LOVING Animal Crossing New Horizons and Beat Saber for PlayStation VR!

 

Where is your favorite place to grab some grub?

McCallister’s Deli for sure, but I love trying new places!

 

What is your favorite Bible verse?

Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

 

What is your favorite book?

The Harry Potter series. I read the first novel in 5th grade and have loved it ever since.

 

What is something most people don’t know about you?

Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to learn how to blow glass. I have always thought that was so fascinating!

 

You are happiest when..?

…I can be with my husband and my family. I love being able to just visit with them and not worry about anything. I look forward to sitting and chatting (with delicious food) when we are all together. My dog and cat have to be there, too!

 

What part of working at Antique Candle Co.® do you enjoy most?

I love working with such an amazing group of people and watching the company grow. As the second employee after Brittany's brother, Ed, it has truly been a unique experience to see growth and changes first hand.

I also love being about to be creative and work on new fragrances directly. It is SO fun seeing what our candle friends want and trying to make that a reality for them!

 

What are some of your life goals?

My long-term, professional goal is to be an author. I love writing! I would also love to rescue foster kittens for adoption. (I'm VERY passionate about cats--LOL!)

What have you learned from working at Antique Candle Co.®?

I have learned that there is a lot more that goes into a small business than one might think. There are SO MANY different aspects involved in just day-to-day operations! With marketing in particular, it is amazing to think about all the super small details we have to consider. It's a fun challenge!

 

What is your favorite fragrance at Antique Candle Co.®?

My forever favorite is Cashmere (a discontinued fragrance). 

My new favorite has got to be either Autumn Woods or Pineapple Coconut!

 

What is your favorite thing about Lafayette, Indiana?

I like that there’s more to do than in Winchester, Indiana (where I’m from). I also like experiencing the artistic downtown and visiting the small boutiques and shops. It's a bigger town with a small town feel. I also love the amazing friends I've made at Antique Candle Co.®!
